GODDARD'S PAGEANT COMING IN OCTOBER

Delegates for the upcoming Mr. & Miss Goddard’s Sports Club Pageant display their sashes at the recent launch of the inter-company event slated for Saturday October 11.
The private sector is often called on to make a greater contribution in the community but this can only be achieved when employees are willing to play their part and participate more in community related activities.
It is with this in mind that the Goddard’s Sports Club recently launched its inaugural Inter-company pageant for the title of Mr. & Miss Goddard’s Sports Club at its clubhouse in Fontabelle, St. Michael.
Sports Club President, Jacqueline Bishop-O’Neal said that as plans for community-related activities for the final quarter of the year were presently being formulated, the hope was that the pageant would encourage more participation by staff.
Bishop-O’Neal added it was also hoped that the Pageant, scheduled to take place on October 18th, 2008 at Solidarity House, Hindsbury Road, St. Michael, would foster greater unity among Goddard’s staff and showcase the talent resident in the company.
In addition to contributing to the outreach activities of the Sports Club, including its support of the St. Mary’s Primary School, proceeds from the pageant are being directed at the establishment of a Sports Club Gym to encourage a focus on health and wellness among staff.
Delegates at the recent launch were ‘sashed’ by Miss Lianne Weekes, Human Resources Manager of Purity Bakeries. The event is expected to be a keenly contested and entertaining evening as delegates will be judged on: costume – depicting some aspect of the representative company; talent; beach wear; formal wear and a question and answer section. Entertainment will also be provided.
Seven companies in the Goddard Group will be represented: GEL Head Office – Stephanie Edghill; Tropical Shipping – Princess Best; Courtesy Garage Ltd – Wendy Phillips-Parris; Caribbean Label Crafts – Brendalese Marshall & Orlando Jones; HIPAC Ltd – Barbara Williams & David Jackman; WIRD – Lynette Boyce & Othneil Forde; Hanschell Inniss Ltd - Jamal Burnett & Akeila Wilson; Purity Bakeries – Delphine Bute & Theo Shepherd and McBride Caribbean Ltd – Shelly Phillips.
Several prizes will be awarded and the delegates will be involved in community activities leading up to the pageant. A motorcade through Bridgetown with the delegates has been scheduled for Saturday October 11th starting at 10:00 a.m.
