PANORAMA OF NATIONAL COLOURS EXPECTED TODAY

Today is National Colours Day in Barbados, and this year in particular, the island is expected to be transformed into a panorama of blue, yellow and black, the national colours officially acknowledged as “Ultramarine, Gold and Black” on the Barbados national flag.
To achieve the colourful spectacle, the Community Independence Secretariat (CIS) teamed up this year with local company, Black Bess Quarry Ltd, to encourage Barbadians to wear their national colours today as part of the 2008 Independence celebrations.
Barbadians can also look out this morning for a National Colours Day Road-Show with Tony Thompson of the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) teaming up with CIS representatives to meet Barbadians on the street and in their offices to talk about the significance of wearing the national colours.
